The Democratic position on the economy

Here’s the Democratic position, as expressed by Jonathan Alter and another liberal on Chris Matthews’s program: (1) The government itself must directly create jobs (as distinct from helping create a positive economic environment in which businesses will expand and hire more workers); (2) Obama must say that anyone who opposes this statist, socialist approach to job creation is “against jobs, period”; and (3) We must get rid of the current “narrative” which says that the government has been spending too much.

Isn’t it fun living in the same country with these people?
