Commenter at Muslim website calls for David Letterman’s tongue to be cut off

The story is reported at Forbes:

The contributor, who identified himself as Umar al-Basrawi, was reacting to what he said Letterman did after the U.S. military announced on June 5 that a drone strike in Pakistan had killed al-Qaida leader Ilyas Kashmiri.

Al-Basrawi wrote that Letterman had made reference to both Osama bin Laden and Kashmiri and said that Letterman had “put his hand on his neck and demonstrated the way of slaughter.”

“Is there not among you a Sayyid Nosair al-Mairi … to cut the tongue of this lowly Jew and shut it forever?” Al-Basrawi wrote, referring to El Sayyid Nosair, who was convicted of the 1990 killing of Jewish Defense League founder Meir Kahane. Letterman is not Jewish.

Of course the incident has nothing to do with Islam, nothing to do with the fact that at least three million Mideastern Muslims now live in the U.S. as a result of our non-discriminatory mass immigration policies over the last 46 years. The thought will not form in the brain of a single member of the political, media, and academic elites, nor in the brain of a single member of the mainstream conservative and liberal public, that if we hadn’t had all that Muslim immigration, we would not now have people in this country threatening to chop off comedians’ tongues because they had insulted Islam. Nor will the thought form in the brain of a single member of the elites and of the mainstream public that if we hadn’t had Muslim immigration, we would not now have continual Muslim terrorist attempts in this country and would not be living under a permanent anti-terror regime that includes humiliating airport security procedures affecting every air traveler and onerous security procedures to enter large public buildings. Such a thought never occurs to a single member in good standing of the liberal West. Only people who have identified the core premise of modern liberalism—that all discrimination against nonwhites and non-Westerners is morally wrong—and consciously rejected it can even form such a thought, let alone follow it through to its logical conclusion, which is that Muslim immigration must be stopped and reversed. As long as people subscribe to modern liberalism, the deepest thought they will have about the permanent threat of domestic Islamic terrorism is that it is a price we must gladly pay for living in a free and equal society.

The only exceptions to the above account are people who make the unprincipled exception—meaning people who, without thinking about the nature of liberalism and all that, instinctively blurt out, “We’ve just got to deport all these Muslims.” Such statements are only made in anonymous comment forums and have zero political impact.

Samir M. writes:

Do not be such a literalist my friend. To cut off the tongue of the dog is to silence him—not necessarily physically dismember him. The knowing mind penetrates all language, whether written in a holy book or uttered by a holy man. Did not Jesus say that it would be better to cut off one’s hand rather than go into the fires of Gehenna?

LA replies:

Except that Muslims do cut off people’s heads and tongues in the name of Islam, so it is literal, or haven’t you noticed?

Yes, in Matthew 5:30 and Mark 9:43 Jesus did say words to that effect. However, Jesus was asking his followers for personal sacrifice in order to avoid sin and eternal death; he was not asking his followers to punish others for their sins. That is what Muslims teach and do. Isn’t it convenient for Samir and other Muslim apologists not to notice this fundamental difference in religious teachings, i.e. the difference between self-denial in Christianity and the totalitarian nature of Islam? A piece of advice to Muslims: don’t try to judge us Christians by quoting the Bible; the words you quote will condemn you.

Daniel S. writes:

At least David Letterman will not have to go in to hiding like the cartoonist Molly Norris. Nevertheless, Letterman, a hack comedian, is learning that there is a very dangerous price to be paid for the maintenance of the liberal, multicultural society (or rather, he should learn this lesson, but as a good liberal the only lesson he’ll learn is not to offend the Muslims ever again). Liberals like Letterman know nothing of Islam’s doctrine and its long history of aggression against the West, and as such will continue to advocate the same liberal policies that allow millions of Muslim immigrants into the U.S. that now use internet message boards to issue death fatwas against anyone making statements about Islam or Muslim deemed insulting or blasphemous. Mark Hackard mentions:

We are confronted with a belief system that since its inception has claimed nothing less than dominion over the entire earth. Liberal society cannot admit this, for to do so would subvert its organizing principles and its very own pretense to universality.

Liberalism celebrates our common humanity in the most superficial manner (individual desire), while denying the essences of cultures and peoples. The exaltation of “human capital” as interchangeable and “enriching,” no matter the country of origin, has led to the phenomenon of Londonistan. America attempts to lay the foundations for Main Street in places like Kandahar and Mosul, and with its blood and debt buys only disaster.

All these frenzied exertions to assert the universal validity of the liberal ideal are speeding its demise.

Liberalism has no idea of the monster it has allow through its own gates:

Modern Westerners have no historical context, no notion of the centuries of Islamic campaigns against Christendom because they have forgotten their faith and cultural heritage. Only a decadent society would invite waves of immigration from a culture with a well-established record of hostility.
