Muslims are assimilating to modern society better than Christians, says Britain’s equality tsar

Michael S. writes:

As reported in the Daily Mail:

Christians are more militant than Muslims in complaining about discrimination, the head of Britain’s equality watchdog has claimed.

Mr Phillips, the head of the Equality and Human rights Commission, blamed the increasing influence on mainstream churches of African and Caribbean immigrants with “intolerant” views.

In contrast, he said Muslims “are doing their damnedest” to develop “an idea of Islam that is compatible with living in a modern liberal democracy.”

Really? The Archbishop of Canterbury says Britons shouldn’t be worried about the spread of sharia law in the UK … but the Moslems are “doing their damnedest” to fit in?

Stupid? Or deeply evil?

The question is largely rhetorical, I suppose.

James P. writes:

The part I liked in the Daily Mail story was this:

Trevor Phillips said Muslims are better at integrating into society, while Christians often complain about bias for cynical political gains.

They complain about bias for political gains? My, that’s soooooo unlike the Muslims! And you’re sure the Christians are not complaining about bias not for political reasons but because they actually experience it?

Then he says this:

Mr Phillips, the head of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, blamed the increasing influence on mainstream churches of African and Caribbean immigrants with ‘intolerant’ views.

Wait a second, Mr. Philips, are you saying African and Caribbean immigrants are intolerant? That sounds racist to me! Good thing you’re a black man, or you might get in trouble. Though we know black people are not always insulated from charges of racism.
