Drudge for first time reports good news on the Fukushima reactors (in fact, such news has been available all along and he ignored it)

Late last night I sent the entry, “Where is the nuclear catastrophe of yesterday?,” to Matt Drudge. In the entry I lambasted him for playing up all the end-of-the-world articles about the Japanese nuclear crisis and then just dropping the story when the crisis seemed to fade. Maybe it had an impact. Tonight he linked an article, not at the favored top left of his page, but over on the middle right, saying,

REPORT: Power restored at Fukushima plant …

The article, by News Wires, says:

Japanese authorities have successfully reconnected all six reactors to the power supply at the damaged Fukushima nuclear plant, experts said on Monday, raising hopes of restoring the plant’s vital cooling systems and averting a nuclear disaster….

U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu, asked by CNN whether the worst of Japan’s 10-day nuclear crisis was over, said: “Well, we believe so, but I don’t want to make a blanket statement.”
