“The Scariest First-Person Video of the Japan Tsunami Yet”

In a video apparently taken from a foot bridge or walkway a few stories above street level, we see torrents of water filling the streets of a town, rolling cars and trucks along in the current as though they were weightless, as though they were children’s plastic toys in a bathtub. Then we start to see entire buildings removed from their foundations and swept along with the cars.

Warning: you might find this video deeply disturbing. As I was watching it, I felt an anxiety grip my chest, as though at the sight of something outside the order of the world, and I thought, “This is something that human beings are not meant to see, are not designed to see. We are not meant to see our world being torn up from its foundations.” But I was seeing it.
