If you look at a large version of the police sketch you can also see in the top half of his left ear a big barbell type piercing. Piercings such as this used to be a rare underground thing. Mostly worn by people into S&M or in heavy metal bands. They are now much more popular and are mostly worn by whites who want to look hip and or menacing. You would almost never see such a thing worn by a Muslim. As has been pointed out, this sketch was more of an almost comical stereotype of a pickup driving, Budweiser drinking redneck.
