Democratic House leaders say they have the votes to pass

Did these conversions to Yes occur between 1:30 a.m. last night and 9:30 a.m. this morning? Then maybe it’s true after all that Pelosi has been depositing severed horses’ heads in people’s beds while they’re sleeping.

Or, is this just the rote repetition of the same blather, “We have the votes,” that we’ve been hearing from the Democratic leadership all along?

A WALL STREET JOURNAL ROUNDUP

WASHINGTON—House Democrats say they will have the 216 votes needed to pass health-care legislation when it comes to the floor for a vote.

“We have the votes now—as we speak,” Connecticut Rep. John Larson, the chairman of the Democratic caucus in the House, said on ABC’s “This Week,” the Associated Press reported.

Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D, Md.) said the bill, President Barack Obama’s signature domestic policy, will pass on Sunday because the majority of Americans want it.

But House Republican leader John Boehner says the Democrats have yet to lock in the 216 votes required for passage.
