Obama doubles down on the worst bill in American history

So says Rosemary in Rosemary’s Baby as Satan mounts her body. Today Obama put forward a nightmarish but all too real trillion-dollar healthcare bill. While the bill carefully omits the public option, it gives the federal government the authority to control insurance prices.

A White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity because details have not yet been officially released, said the insurance rate proposal would give the federal Health and Human Services Department—in conjunction with state authorities—the power to deny substantial premium increases, limit them, or demand rebates for consumers.

With this power the government can put insurance companies out of business to pave the way for a comprehensive, universal, single-payer system. In other words, a government takeover of the U.S. medical industry.

Having failed to get a bill passed, Obama is going for broke. He will try to use the upcoming Blair House summit as an opportunity to charm the public into supporting this new monstrosity. This is the way he works because he has supreme confidence is his power to persuade people. When the summit fails, as it must, he will go whole hog and ram the bill through with reconciliation. This is no dream, this is really happening.
