A warning

The media coverage of the last few days has built up Brown as the almost inevitable winner. It’s leaving me a bit uneasy. If Coakley manages to win, I think we will see a lot of triumphalism in Washington. Obama will get credit for “saving” Coakley. I think it could spark some very quick action to push through a lot of progressive laws. A Coakley win could give Obama health care passage before his State of the Union, and might even help quick passage of cap and trade and of amnesty. The news surrounding Coakley has been so uniformly bad that a Coakley win would be a game-changer. Beware.
