Schwarzenegger does 180 on Obamacare—a rat deserting a sinking ship?

Republican governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger, who never seems to see a fashionable liberal cause he doesn’t like,—climate change, homosexual “marriage,” you name it—has turned against the health care bill, which he had previously supported, mainly because of the crushing financial costs to California.

“Health care reform, which started as noble and needed legislation, has become a trough of bribes, deals and loopholes,” Schwarzenegger said. “You’ve heard of the bridge to nowhere. This is health care to nowhere.”

However, in keeping with his rat-like profile, the governor’s position has nothing to do with principle. While denouncing the “bribes, deals, and loopholes” that have gone into making the bill, he says that California’s representatives should nevertheless vote for it if they can get a deal for California similar to what Sen. Ben Nelson got for Nebraska. Bottom line: Arnold has nothing against bribes; he just wants to be included in the action himself.
