The Fourteenth Amendment and gun rights

Larry T. brings out the interesting historical point, which is being used by the plaintiff in a current Second Amendment case, that one of the reasons the Fourteenth Amendment was proposed was to secure the Second Amendment right of the freedmen to bear arms, which the Southern states were denying them.
