No Jackie Kennedy

A female friend, sending me the photos at mrs-o.org, tells me that Michelle Obama’s fashion sense is very uneven. For example, she wears lots of sleeveless outfits, which some people think is elegant, but then she seems to get cold and puts on a cardigan over the sleeveless top and looks shlumpy, as she does standing next to the Queen. Sometimes she has something more attractive, like the yellow number she wore getting off the plane in Britain, but apparently she only wore it for that one occasion and immediately switched to goofier outfits, like the sparkly cardigan with the sleeves pushed up. That, says my friend, might be something to wear for going out with friends to a nice restaurant, not for a morning visit with the prime minister of Great Britain and his wife at 10 Downing Street.

All I can say is, at least she no longer looks like a male body builder, as she did during her speech at the Democratic Convention last summer.

And speaking of disconcertingly unpleasant images of Michelle Obama, there is the Communist Chinese-style cover photo and story on her in the March 16 New York magazine (or rather the cover stories, since there are about ten of them), under the title,

The Power of

Michelle Obama

That image is not meant critically. New York’s editors are promoting the personality cult of the Dear Leader’s Wife, or a leftist American version of it. The same totalitarian symbolism is seen in the gigantic, Mao-like statue of Martin Luther KIng planned for Washington D.C. That’s the kind of country these leftists want America to become.
