The wandering Dutchman

Just as the Wandering Dutchman (the Flying Dutchman in Wagner’s opera) is condemned to wander the earth looking for a woman who will be faithful to him, Geert Wilders, Europe’s most outspoken elected politician opposing that continent’s Islamization, seems condemned to roam the capitals of Europe looking for a parliament building that will allow him to present his message. The latest parliament to refuse him access is the British House of Lords. As reported by The Brussels Journal, a member of the House had invited all members to a viewing in a conference room of Wilders’s 15 minute movie about Islam, Fitna. Whereupon the first Muslim member of the House of Lords, Lord Ahmed, known as a “moderate” Muslim, “threatened to mobilize 10,000 Muslims to prevent Mr. Wilders from entering the House and threatened to take the colleague who was organizing the event to court. The result is that the event, which should have taken place next Thursday, was cancelled.”

It is evident that Muslims for all practical purposes are already in the saddle in Europe. This situation will not change, but will only get worse, until the anti-Islamization side becomes much stronger and more assertive. Where are the ten thousands that Geert Wilders could summon?

The Dutchman’s wanderings calls to mind my father’s recounting of Zeev Jabotinsky’s travels around Europe to warn of the impending Nazi doom. Few chose to believe what Jabotinsky placed right in front of their eyes. If they faced the evil then they would have to take bold action. So like my father, a survivor of three death camps, they chose not to face it… until it was too late. It seems human nature hasn’t evolved much in 70 years.
