Irwin Graulich sums up in a phrase the derailment of the moral truth that supposedly had been learned at such cost from World War II into the post-moral ideology of modern liberalism:

Europe learned absolutely nothing from WWII. Instead of learning that decent, moral nations must “fight evil,” the Europeans learned that “fighting is evil.”
