P.C. Roberts and L. Rockwell aren’t just popping hate-America pills—they’re mainlining

Psst. Wanna know how really, really evil America is? Listen to Llewelyn Rockwell and Paul Craig Robert have a chummy chat about how the U.S. is more aggressive than the USSR; how the U.S. tortures people in a manner that makes it the moral equivalent of Charles Taylor of Liberia; how Americans from the Puritans to the present moment claim the right, which they say is based in Christianity, to kill indiscriminately everyone who disagrees with them; and how America was “terrorizing” the Muslim world for decades before the Muslims finally ran out of patience and struck back. Between minutes 8 and 15 is where the most egregious comments are heard.

Rockwell is still a regular contributor at The American Conservative. And Roberts is still, to Vdare’s disgrace, a regular columnist at that website. And people wonder why paleoconservatives are without influence in American politics. Notwithstanding the lies and errors in David Frum’s March 2003 article, “Unpatriotic Conservatives,” the core of the article, concerning the anti-Americanism of the anti-war right, was correct, as discussed at VFR at the time and in particular in this comment where I listed the parts of Frum’s article with which I agreed.

And, if you’re really interested in ancient VFR history, see my reply to then VFR contributor John Carney who had attacked me at length for my criticisms of Lew Rockwell and the paleolibertarians.
