Looks like the Founders knew what the blazes they were talking about

I had no sooner grasped Clark Coleman’s simple but profound point about why the Founders wanted the President to be a natural born citizen of the United States, and how the federal requirements for natural born citizenship that were in effect in 1961 fulfilled that purpose, when Ben W. sent this from the AP:

WASHINGTON—President-elect Barack Obama says he will try to “reboot America’s image” among the world’s Muslims and will follow tradition by using his entire name—Barack Hussein Obama—in his swearing-in ceremony.

Of course, if America were culturally and politically alive, Obama would have been put under pressure to drop his middle name legally before anyone considered him an acceptable presidential prospect. Now it’s too late.
