Why a retired Army officer gave up on America

In the entry on the license to kill U.S. soldiers that the U.S. has handed to the Taliban, Mark Jaws writes:

In the course of the past five years I have read over 5000 intelligence reports [about the “war” in Iraq]. All too often I would read interrogation reports concerning terrorists who had been captured previously by the Americans and then released after serving only six months or a year. Silly me. If you are fighting a war, and you catch someone armed with a rifle and with bombmaking devices, you don’t release them six months later. This is part of the reason why I have given up on America.

Is the problem America, or the extreme liberalism that has taken over America? In the same way, is the problem Christianity, or the extreme liberalism that has taken over Christianity? If an evil alien force has occupied the bodies and minds of your loved ones, do you leave your loved ones to be destroyed, or do you try to drive out the alien force?
