The campaign of John McCain went head-to-head with Madonna today after the 50-year-old pop diva appeared to compare the Republican candidate to Hitler and Robert Mugabe.

Madonna, who kicked off her “Sticky and Sweet” world tour at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff yesterday, made the swipe during a performance of Get Stupid, when Mr McCain’s image was flashed up alongside images of the Führer and Zimbabwean dictator, as well as destruction and global warming.

In a none-too-subtle contrast, Barack Obama was bracketed in a subsequent sequence alongside Mahatma Gandhi, John Lennon and Al Gore.

I once read that Madonna has an IQ of 143. But leftism makes people deeply stupid.

Robert Mugabe’s career is such searing proof of the bankruptcy of ’60s liberalism (and such allied causes as Third World revolution, etc.) that his use as a scare figure from the “right” is perplexing. I also wonder how many liberals know the extent of Gandhi’s shameful WWII activities? So fixated was he on driving the British from Asia that he propagandized for the Japanese in the 1940s, expressing mere “conflict” when news of their atrocities in China came out.

Yet what I think most interesting is that Madonna has been yearning for a black messiah since well before Barack Hussein came along. Does not this 1991 music video completely capture the spiritual longing at the heart of Obama’s candidacy?:
