The New York Times, at long last, condescends to enter the world of reality

Unbelievable. Eight months after the National Enquirer first broke the story of presidential candidate John Edwards’s relationship with Rielle Hunter and his fatherhood of her unborn child, at which point lawyers for Hunter and Andrew Young said that Edwards was not the father and that Young was, the Olympians of West 43rd Street are getting down, doing some digging, and revealing that the denials were all orchestrated by Edwards finance chairman Fred Baron. The National Enquirer reported the affair in December 2007, before the Iowa caucuses. And only now are the Moscovites on the Hudson doing their damned job. The lofty Times is even quoting Pigeon O’Brien, the close friend of Rielle who has been a prime source for the Enquirer stories on the Edwards-Hunter affair and its true chronology.
