The most serious problem with Obama

Obama’s off-the-planet comments on the conviction of his friend and funder Tony Rezko is the subject of a Powerline entry.

Obama has often been compared to Jimmy Carter. It would be more accurate to say that as Carter is to planet Earth, Obama is to Carter. Obama is just way out there. So, leaving aside the more familiar objections to him, such as his alienation from middle America, his membership in a vile white-hating church, and his radical leftist politics and associates, the more fundamental objection to him is that he seems to lack a grasp of basic realities. This character has no more business being president of the United States than I have being an offensive lineman in the National Football League.

Ben W. writes:

Obama’s relationship to Rezko reminds one of Bill Clinton’s relationships with shady rich people (the Vanity Fair article). If liberals are so principled, why are their traveling companions shady rich men? Is it because liberalism has no ethical foundation but is based on a series of unprincipled exceptions as per Lawrence Auster? So liberal politicians will always have unprincipled relationships. And they will always be amazed when their fellow travelers are found out.
