Gains by conservatives and nationalists in Italy

Jeremy G. writes:

There is good news to report in the recent Italian elections. The nationalist Northern League doubled its position with 8 percent of the vote and is likely to exert a major influence on the conservative government. The far left has collapsed.

Berlusconi said, “One of the first things to do is to close the frontiers.” We need a president who can say this.

According to Reuters, one Northern League campaign poster depicted an American Indian with the slogan, “They were also subjected to immigration, now they live in reserves.”
