McCain’s transparent conservative mask

Richard B. writes (with an assist by LA):

JUST LIKE A CANDIDATE
(with apologies to Bob Dylan)

Nobody feels any pain
Tonight as I’m watching John McCain
Everybody knows
That Johnny’s got new clothes
But sometimes his real attitude shows
His anger and his hate.
He takes just like a liberal
He makes laws just like a liberal
And he breaks promises just like a liberal
But he speaks just like a candidate.

Queen Hillary, she’s his friend
Yes, I believe he’ll go see her again.
Nobody has to guess
That Billy won’t confess
Till she finally sees that he’s like all the rest
With his lies, his egotism, and his dates.
She takes just like a liberal, yes
She hates conservatives just like a liberal, yes
And she fakes just like a liberal
But she breaks just like a candidate.

Well, I was right-wing from the first
And I was dying there of thirst
For the truth in life.
And their liberal curse hurts
But what’s worse
Are these candidates
I can’t stand their debates
Ain’t it my fate

That I just don’t fit
Yes, I believe it’s time for me to quit
When we vote again
For a President
Please don’t let on that you knew me when
I was for Romney, and it was all so right.
John, you fake just like a liberal, yes, you do
You make laws just like a liberal, yes, you do
And you hate just like a liberal
But you speak just like a candidate.

James R. writes:

As an accompaniment to the excellent “Just Like A Candidate” how about an ode to the mainstream conservatives whose tortured embrace of John McCain is a sight to behold?

Why Do I?

Why do I keep saying that I love you
When I know that our love’s all gone?
Why do I keep saying I’ll forgive you
When I know you’ve been foolin’ all along?
I know that you don’t love me
You just drag my heart around
How can I believe in you
When you’re the flirt of the town?
So why do I keep saying that I love you
When I know that our love’s all gone?
