Bush pro and con

Ruth King, who once thought highly of President Bush, grimly catalogues at Mideast Outpost the shameful collapse of Bush’s foreign policy. Meanwhile Lawrence Kudlow at the New York Sun has penned a piece entitled, “Bush’s Very Good Year.” Isn’t that a bizarre headline, coming just weeks after the double, unprecedented humiliation of Annapolis and the NIE, in which Bush sold out Israel in order to win Arab support for action against Iran, and then his Iran policy blew up in his face, so that he ended up selling out Israel for nothing? Truly the Sun is in a class by itself. Never have I seen a newspaper so abjectly loyal to a president (Bush) and his leading ideologue (Norman Podhoretz) and so clueless or indifferent to the way such loyalty makes it appear. Some people are born to be slavish courtiers, and they don’t care who knows it.
