Thompson

While I still have doubts about Thompson’s energy, smarts, and political seriousness (namely with regard to his returning from the U.S. Senate to his acting career for several years before running for president), if he continues to show the readiness and the wit that he exhibited on Hannity and Colmes last night, I think he could re-emerge as a contender and as the natural choice of conservatives.

Differences between Thompson and Romney: Romney is the smartest, most talented, and best-looking candidate in the race, but an air of the unreal and synthethic hangs over him; Thompson comes across as sleepy at times and looks crinkly, but also seems real. Romney “became” a conservative the day before yesterday; Thompson has an actual record as a conservative.
