The definition of Not Getting It: thinking that David Brooks is a conservative

Scott of Powerline describes David Brooks—the man who keeps explicitly attempting to define conservatism out of existence—as “the Times’s only conservative columnist.”

But a columnist who, as Brooks does, keeps telling us that conservatism doesn’t exist anymore, and that new political ideologies with new names are needed to replace those meaningless old terms conservative and liberal, is self-evidently not a conservative. Somehow, Scott doesn’t get this.

Multiply Scott’s cluelessness by a hundred and you have … neoconservatism.
