Multiculturalism to the limit

Here is multiculturalism spelled out consistently, as the systematic dismantling of a nation and its culture. A report by an influential Labor Party think tank proposes that holidays of all religions be officially recognized and made equally important with Christmas, so as to assure good race relations; calls for the flying of flags other than the Union Jack, presumably for the same reason; demands action to “ensure access” for ethnic minorities to Britain’s “largely white” countryside; and advocates “birth ceremonies,” at which state and parents would agree to “work in partnership” to bring up children.

If we consider the four above proposals together (there were several others mentioned in the Daily Mail article), they emerge as a total multicultural program. The first proposal would dismantle Britain religiously and culturally and turn it into an officially equal collection of all religions and cultures; the second proposal would dismantle Britain as a nation and turn it into an officially equal collection of all nations; the third proposal would in principle set up a pattern by which racial diversity would be imposed on every community in Britain, assuring that the historic white majority cannot maintain its identity—and ultimately its majority status—anywhere in Britain; and the fourth proposal would require that every child in Britain be propagandized and dedicated to this nation-destroying project from the moment of his birth.

The Daily Mail article on Christmas and other clarifications of multiculturalism quotes the Muslim Conservative “spokesman” Sayeeda Warsi:

“Their comments betray a breathtaking misunderstanding of what it is to be British. These proposals could actually damage cohesion. You don’t build community cohesion by throwing out our history and denying the fundamental contribution Christianity has played and does play to our nation.”

This is well and good, and she seems eager to accommodate the standing culture and tradition.

But, here is her reaction to Brown’s communal child upbringing proposal:

“The thought of Gordon Brown sharing responsibility with me for bringing up my children sends a shiver down my spine. I thought we got rid of communism?”

Once again, I really don’t mean to be cynical, but this seems like a more truthful visceral reaction (the first just sounds “reasoned”) . How can a Christian/secular tradition bring up her Muslim child? So, on one level she may support the current traditions, mostly to remain on good terms with the community at large, but when things get really close to home, she would just “return” to her own side.

Of course, once the Koran gets involved, things will become crystal clear to her and to everyone else.

Three words: “That Hideous Strength.” Interestingly, one of the main protagonists of Lewis’ prophetic novel is a modern young woman, a proto-feminist, who is confronted both by the demonic aspect of the liberal PC she has vaguely espoused, and the parts of ancient British tradition that are truly challenging for liberals. She faces a choice. She must either go forward to the Brave New World (with vivisection for humans, too), or back to the difficult old Way, the strait and narrow Path.

In the end she chooses the latter, mostly because it is the only humane choice, but also because it is more noble, more magic, even more erotic. (It’s a secret hidden from liberals that traditionalism is the best way to get the best, the genuine version of the sensual, worldly, erotic goods liberalism most wants, and which Satan therefore uses as a chief lure.
