“Rudy’s don’t-ask/don’t-tell policy on Catholicism”

Don Feder puts the spotlight on Giuliani’s embarrassingly lame and pathetic responses to voters’ questions on his religious beliefs.

Meanwhile, as reported by the AP,

A day after urging people to “leave my family alone,” Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani on Friday said he’ll talk about his family—on his terms.

The G man must have half-realized how unsustainable was his earlier claim to privacy, given (which example shall I use from this embarrassment of riches?) the fact that he treated Judi Nathan as his at least quasi-official companion while he was mayor and still married to his second wife. Far from keeping his adulterous relationship private, he trumpeted it to the world. And that’s not even mentioning his unsuccessful efforts to get permission to bring Judi to Gracie Mansion for official events so that she could have the enjoyment of being his “First Lady.”

Hey, Rudy, this is not France, it’s America.

However, as I have been saying all along, the most important public aspect of Giuliani’s behavior is not the behavior itself; it’s the fact that his supporters for the presidency must in the act of supporting him keep declaring that such behavior is completely acceptable or unimportant, thus destroying the very belief in traditional morality.

John D., who sent the AP piece, writes:

That’s an informative and quite damaging piece by Don Feder. Giuliani is much worse than I realized.
