Christ and culture

In the recent entry on a former VFR commenter who has dramatically dropped out of the West, Rhona says that Nietzsche was correct about the decadent liberalism of Christian clerics. I reply by addressing what I think is the idea underneath Rhona’s idea: was Nietzsche right about God? Or, to put it another way, are culture and Christianity opposed?
