The Sith Lord visits the Senate

Newt Gingrich is of course an ideological globalist. But if the likes of Charles Krauthammer (!) and William Kristol (!!) can be on our side in the debate on the Kill America Act, so can Gingrich. In a column at Human Events, he warns that President Bush is not giving up on the bill and that he plans at a lunch tomorrow on Capitol Hill to twist the arms of Republican senators to get them to help bring it back to the Senate floor.* Gingrich suggests several strong talking points to make to your senators (and other senators, see Paul Henri’s tips on calling the Capitol) prior to that lunch. Senate contact information here.

Gingrich’s column also contains some shocking information, such as this:

Over the last six years, the three recently arrested New Jersey terrorists who had been here illegally for 23 years had a total of 75 charges by the local police, and yet not once was our immigration enforcement infrastructure able to identify that they were here illegally. And now we are told that with the new comprehensive immigration bill, we will start to enforce the law against those have come here illegally after Jan. 1, 2007.

___________

* Not that this point matters for us mere ordinary citizens, but in my lack of comprehension of Senate procedure I admit I don’t know how Republicans could revive the bill, since the decision to take it off the floor was made by Democratic Majority Leader Reid. Remember that it was the Republicans who voted to keep debating the bill, and it was Sen. Reid who, after his motion to close debate failed, pulled the bill out of consideration altogether.
