Republicans who call Republicans racists

Patrick Buchanan, who remains frightfully off-base on most issues having to do with Islam, is certainly on the right side when it comes to the immigration bill. In a useful column at WorldNewDaily he puts together the unbelievable recent statements from the president and his supporters calling all opponents of the bill anti-Hispanic bigots whose only motive for opposing the bill is anti-Hispanic bigotry. That large group of die-hard bigots (many of whom support the legalization of illegal aliens on the condition that there be real border enforcement) includes, inter alia, Peggy Noonan, Charles Krauthammer, the Powerline guys, Mark Krikorian of CIS, Roy Beck of Numbers USA, and the entire staff of National Review including NRO editor Kathryn Jean Lopez.

I would have thought that my capacity for amazement at what the open-borders Republicans are saying about their fellow Republicans would be exhausted by now. But, as Hamlet said about his mother on a very different subject, my increase of amazement grows by what it feeds on.
