Back from the dead: the ERA

House and Senate Democrats have re-introduced the Equal Rights Amendment, which was defeated 25 years ago when it failed to win ratification in enough states. Now calling it the Women’s Equality Amendment, the Democrats plan to pass it this year. But the great Phyllis Schlafly, who led the fight to stop the ERA a generation ago, seems full of vim and vigor in opposing its attempted resurrection.

Unfortunately, though the ERA was stopped, most of the things that would have resulted from it have happened without it.
