“Bill Clinton, with the decency to stammer”

That’s the title of a blog entry at Powerline, and the person it is referring to is John Edwards. Edwards’s soullessness and naked ambition (Powerline calls him a huckster) were evident from the time he began situating himself for a presidential run after having been in the Senate for two years, with no previous political experience before that. A deeper soullessness was also indicated in something he said that I discussed in my 2001 article “The Revelation of Nihilism.”
