Israel thinks of joining NATO

The Israeli government is “drafting a position paper that will include guidelines and a strategy for turning Israel into a full-fledged member of NATO,” according to the Jerusalem Post. Also, former Spanish prime minister Aznar told the Post that “Israel needs to join NATO as soon as possible.” He said, the Iranian threat serves as “an excellent occasion to enforce [Israeli] deterrence by making Israel a member of NATO.”

Meanwhile, if you can believe it, Tsipi “Sniffly” Livni is being touted, and is touting herself, as the replacement for the unpopular prime minister Ehud Olmert, a defeatist loser who I am amazed became prime minister, and who I am even more amazed is still in office. But is replacing the loser Olmert by the ur-mediocrity Livni a solution?
