France: Out with Catholicism, in with Islam
Must reading at Galliawatch about how the modern French state, founded since 1905 on laïcité, the total separation of the Catholic religion from the public sphere, is now deliberately abandoning laïcité for the sake of, and solely in the case of, Muslims. What French Catholics had to surrender painfully, immigrant and unassimilated Muslims are being freely granted.
This is the perfect demonstration of the fact that liberalism, in uprooting and delegitimizing the historical particularity of a nation in the name of a non-particular neutrality, prepares that nation to be taken over by alien particularities. Email entry |
