Is Buchanan moving away from appeasement?

You would be interested in reading Patrick Buchanan’s new essay on Islam. He notes that Islam is a religion of the sword and that the West is in decline while the Muslims are ascending. He doesn’t try to rally the West, but merely notes the present reality.

His points are obvious to you and me but seem to be a psychological reversal of sorts for Buchanan, who in the past seemed envious of Muslim faith and strength to the point where he has sided with them against Western liberals.
