Conservatives finally realizing that Bush has suckered them again

Andrew McCarthy at The Corner links a WorldNetDaily article which quotes an unnamed White House official confirming that our president will never, ever, say “Islamic Fascists” again because he doesn’t want to offend Muslims. Whether or not WND actually spoke to a White House official (WND is notoriously unreliable and can only be believed when it provides a direct quote from a named source), the facts remain as follows: (1) Bush made a huge stir by saying that we are at war with “Islamic Fascists”; (2) conservatives were overjoyed that finally the president was describing our enemy as actual people and not just as a process, which suggested that the war we are waging is a real war not a phony war; but then (3) the Council for the Enforcement of American Islamic Dhimmitude, excuse me, the Council on American-Islamic Relations wrote a letter to the president complaining about this term which they said unfairly smears all Muslims as the enemy; and (4) the president instantly stopped speaking of a “war with Islamic Fascists” and went back to speaking of a “struggle with terror.”

What a man! What a leader!
