Iraq (briefly) revisited

From the AP:

A series of blasts killed at least 40 people Monday in Iraq and wounded dozens in the worst wave of violence to hit Baghdad in days.

Now let’s take this in. Forty people were killed by terrorist bombings in one day, and this is the worst wave of violence to hit Baghdad in days? Meaning, that on other recent days only 10, 20, or 30 people were killed? Yet the Bush supporters are still saying that we’re winning the war. What planet are we on, where inconceivable terrorist mass murders are been freely carried out daily in the capital city of a major country, and we imagine that we are winning a war against terrorism in that country?
