The latest liberal lie

Turning from the cosmic question of Western survival to the latest episode in the meaningless soap opera of the Democrats’ efforts to destroy President Bush, one could intuit immediately in this instance—as in the 100 or so previous such instances over the last five years—that the leak that Lewis Libby had said was authorized by the president was not going to end up being the nuclear explosion of the Bush presidency that the Democrats and liberal media were treating it as. Libby said that the president authorized him to leak “certain information” that was contained in the National Intelligence Estimate. The president’s mindless feral enemies are treating this as though it had been an order to leak classified information. But, as Andrew McCarthy, the indispensable resident adult at The Corner, points out, that’s not what Libby said. He said the president authorized the leak of certain information to the press, most likely in anticipation of a formal publication of that same information.
