Netherlands considers banning the burqa

The hardline (at least by Dutch standards) minister for integration and immigration, Rita Verdonk, has called for an investigation into whether the Netherlands should outlaw the burqa, that charming Islamic female head covering which leaves only a slit open over the eyes, just the way Allah likes it, hmm boy, and Dutch officials fear she will be added to the list of politicians targeted for assassination by Muslims in the Netherlands.

I would have been neoconservatively correct and said, “targeted for assassination by Islamists in the Netherlands,” but, trouble is, folks, I’ve never seen any of our jihadist Muslim adversaries who actually calls himself an “Islamist.”
