Did Hussein ruin Iraq?

With a couple of judicious quotes about Iraq in the pre-Saddam era, John Derbyshire at The Corner nails Ralph Peters on his comment that Saddam Hussein “wrecked the moral infrastructure” of Iraq.

Here I am, approvingly citing Derbyshire twice in one day.
