Leading Republican senator says a common culture is a bad thing

Continuing the movement of Republicans to the multicultural left that was initiated by George W. Bush in August 2000, Senator McCain has denounced the idea of a common American culture. He says America is constituted of two things: a multiplicity of races, cultures, and religions, and the idea of liberty. He says that a country so constituted is superior to any country that has a common culture.

I discuss McCain’s speech here, and further expand on the problem here. Because of the importance of the issue, I will be leaving this notice at the top of the main page for the next few days.
