A thought on Buckley worship

If William F. Buckley’s creation of the conservative movement rightfully earns him endless honors and worship, then, by the same logic, would not Buckley’s subsequent abandonment and betrayal of most of what the conservative movement stood for rightfully earn him endless blame?
