Miers’s liberal record

Yesterday the best that any of President Bush’s supporters could say about Harriet Miers was that her record was unknown, let’s give her a chance. But now her record is emerging. As a higher-up in the American Bar Association (an organization so liberal that Bush had previously dropped the long-standing presidential tradition of asking for its evaluations of federal judicial nominees), Miers advocated support of women in combat, homosexual adoptions, and the International Criminal Court. For conservatives, it should not be a choice between supporting this insulting nomination and remaining silent. They should actively seek to defeat it. Then Bush would have to go back and choose a decent nominee.
