I didn’t mean to leave out Quebec and the Netherlands

In the last two blog entries, I didn’t mean to make it sound as though the Australian ministers were the first Western politicians who have said things like this. Earlier this year, several Quebec ministers made very welcome statements about sharia believers not being welcome in Quebec, and Geert Wilders of the Netherlands has called for an immigration moratorium, the expulsion of non-assimilating Muslims, and the closing of Islamic schools. But—and this may have been entirely subjective on my part—there was something about the Australian statements—an “oomph”—that struck me particularly forcefully.
