If you hate the whole country, what are your bona fides?

Cindy Sheehan gripes about President Bush and the neoconservatives, but apparently the real target of her ire is rather larger than that:

“George Bush and his neo-conservatives killed my son,” she said tearing up a bit. “America has been killing people on this continent since it was started. This country is not worth dying for.”

Doesn’t sound like a very effective argument to use against the particular war we’re fighting, does it? Yet the left and the mainstream media seem unwilling to distinguish between a person who finds fault with the actions of one president and a person who hates the whole country. For today’s irrational mainstream left, both positions are equally rational.
