The spiritual foundation of the United States, and of Iran

Here is a very significant statement from the recently elected president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad (thanks to Jihad Watch):

Is there art that is more beautiful, more divine, and more eternal than the art of martyrdom? A nation with martyrdom knows no captivity. Those who wish to undermine this principle undermine the foundations of our independence and national security. They undermine the foundation of our eternity.

The United States of America, when they declared their independence from Great Britain and the fundamental principles of government on which such independence was based, said that man is created by God, and therefore man has the unalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and that government is instituted in order to secure these rights. By contrast, the spiritual foundation of Iran’s political existence, according to its president, is the suicide mass-murder of infidels. And that same government is now rushing to develop nuclear weapons.
