Another Western country descends into the depths

Canada the other day legalized same-sex “marriage” (though the Canadian Senate still has to confirm the bill), and now Spain has done the same.

A commenter at Lucianne.com said it all: “Don’t worry. In a few years, when Spain is part of Eurabia, this law will be reversed.”

And here’s a further disturbing angle that a friend has just pointed out. Since each country as a matter of course recognizes marriages performed elsewhere, must the U.S., or any nation, recognize same-sex marriages performed in other nations? Must EU members recognize the same-sex marriages performed in Netherlands, Belgium, and now Spain? The answer would seem to be yes. At the very least, there would be strong pressures in that direction. Thus it’s not only that America must become (as I’ve said before, paraphrasing Lincoln on slavery) either all legalized same-sex marriage or all no legalized same-sex marriage; it’s that the whole Western world must become either all legalized same-sex marriage or all no legalized same-sex marriage.

Traditional marriage and homosexual “marriage” are two incompatible systems that cannot co-exist in the same civilization.

Here’s a sign of resistance to the same-sex marriage tide. I’ve learned from a reader that last year Prime Minister John Howard’s government got legislation through the Australian parliament amending the national marriage law to address the very concern I raised above. The new law says: “A union solemnised in a foreign country between (a) a man and another man, or (b) a woman and another woman, must not be recognised as a marriage in Australia.” There are critics, however, who say there are holes in this language, such as civil unions.
