How anti-leftism replaced … America

From a reader, here is a succinct description of how neoconservatism replaced conservatism. My only qualification is that I would change “conservatism” in the below passage to “the defense of our civilization and our traditional way of life.”

The Cold War became less about conservatism and more about anti-Communism. Presumably to conserve our America, but in the end conservatism was a distant memory.
