Benedict XVI and Europe’s Christian roots

One thing I’ve been wanting to say for the last three days is how delightful it is to have a pope named Benedict. The very name takes us back to the Middle Ages, to St. Benedict, the founder of the monastic order that was perhaps the leading influence in Christendom through the entire early medieval period, building up the then-ruined Europe both spiritually and economically.
