John Paul II as philosopher of culture

On February 25, in anticipation of his death, I posted an expanded version of my article from 2002 on Pope John Paul II’s philosophy of culture. The article, now called “Is the Pope a Neocon?”, is still being further revised and expanded. For one thing, in the two earlier versions I had used George Weigel’s paraphrases of an important speech JPII gave in Paris in 1980, because no English version of the speech, which had been given in French, was available. I am now translating parts of the speech into English in order to provide direct quotations.
